More than two years since Wells Fargo acquired Charlotte-based Wachovia, bank branches here are now beginning take the name of their new owner. Most other states with a Wachovia presence
have already transitioned to the new brand. North Carolina will be the last. A bright yellow Wells Fargo sign greeted customers at one north Charlotte Wachovia branch this morning. Some
customers said it was a strange sight. "Well as my daughters just so eloquently put it, the sign looks cheesy," laughed Kinshasha Coleman. "They don't like the yellow.
But hey, I don't have a problem with it at all." Harold Magill said it'll be hard to get used to the new look. "But as long as the service and the accounts stay the same,
I don't see why I should change," Magill said. The new Wells Fargo sign was quickly covered by a Wachovia banner. Wells Fargo plans to unveil the new look for North Carolina all
at once in mid-October. Customers in South Carolina will see the new signs in mid-September. A Wells Fargo spokesman says North Carolina is the last to convert because of Wachovia's
long history here and sizable customer base.
