— June is National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. To increase public understanding and encourage Veteran participation in PTSD-recovery programs, VA Augusta Health


Care System invites local media to consider interviewing our trauma-recovery experts to discuss PTSD and Veteran therapy options, as well as how Military Sexual Trauma (MST) and race and


culture can impact how Veterans experience PTSD. “We want all Veterans to know that PTSD is a treatable condition – not just something they have to live with - and that confidential,


professional help is available,” said Dr. J. Richard Monroe, program manager for the VA Augusta Trauma Recovery Clinic. “We offer personalized, evidence-based therapies that are effective in


addressing the symptoms surrounding PTSD. It can be a life-changing decision when Veterans ask for the help they deserve.” WHAT:         Interview opportunities with PTSD-recovery

online resources to help Veterans and their families in their understanding of PTSD at www.ptsd.va.gov/apps/aboutface.
