erratically. Her car allegedly mounted footpaths and travelled on to the wrong side of the road. The woman allegedly blew 0.327, more than six times the legal limit of 0.05. She was charged

with driving under the influence. She is due to appear in Moora Magistrate’s Court on February 3. Const. Ruffell said Gingin officers conducted more than 300 random breath tests over the

#headsup campaign and three drivers registered blood alcohol readings in excess of 0.08 and one refused to be breath tested. And the country crackdown continued in Margaret River on Monday

with 360 “idiotic” drivers caught speeding above a 50km/h limit. Margaret River officer-in-charge Sgt Brett Cassidy said police set up the speed camera on Wallcliffe Road about 4pm and were

nothing short of disappointed when they collected it at 8pm. “The camera is regularly there — the numbers that were detected were quite high considering it’s there all the time,” he said.

“We’ve worked out that 985 demerit points are in the mail.” Sgt Cassidy said 231 motorists were caught doing between 10km/h and 19km/h over the speed limit. One driver was caught doing

80km/h, while eight others were snapped doing between 20km/h and 29km/h over. Sgt Cassidy said there had been three fatal crashes in the area over the past three years, two of them during

holiday periods. “It’s a timely reminder to people — don’t speed anywhere, particularly in town, as well as on the highways,” he said. “You will get caught and when you do the penalties will
