Four people, including a woman, who arrived from Dubai have been booked by the Andheri police for allegedly fleeing the institutional quarantine centre earlier this month. According to the

police, the four had arrived from Dubai on February 10, and as per the government’s guidelines those coming from Europe or the Middle East and testing negative for Covid-19 had to undergo a

mandatory seven-day institutional quarantine at a hotel followed by a seven-day quarantine at their home. The accused, Sushil Sabnis, Zuber Ghalte, Nikita Chander and Swapan Chandradas, were

dropped at a hotel in Andheri for the quarantine. The next day when a BMC doctor went to the hotel for their check-up, it was found that they had left the hotel. Since they defied the

government guidelines and went home without completing the necessary quarantine period, a complaint was lodged against them for putting the lives of other people at risk. Based on the

complaint, an FIR was lodged with the Andheri police station. “We have registered a complaint, and booked them under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public

servant), 269 and 270 (for negligent and malignant and act likely to spread infection or disease dangerous to life) and 34 (common intention of) of the Indian Penal Code,” said a police

officer, adding that complaint was lodged by the BMC officials. Untitled Carousel POWAI WOMAN BOOKED FOR VIOLATION OF QUARANTINE RULES Acting on BMC’s complaint, the Powai police on Thursday

registered an FIR against a woman for violating quarantine rules and leaving her apartment that was sealed after the detection of a positive case on the same floor.
