Cesc fabregas has already given inter milan rasmus hojlund transfer green light

It is well established by now that one of Manchester United's main priorities this summer is to sign a new centre-forward. United managed just 44 goals in the Premier League last

season, with only Everton and the three relegated clubs scoring fewer than Ruben Amorim's side. United have moved quickly to address that issue by signing 17-goal Matheus Cunha from

Wolves and targeting a move for 20-goal Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo. Those two players would fill the two attacking midfield roles in Amorim' 3-4-2-1 system but he is still keen to sign

a new forward amid the struggles of both Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, who managed just seven league goals between them this term. And should a new forward arrive it is almost certain

one of those players will move on so it wasn't a major surprise to learn of Inter Milan's interest in Hojlund. The 22-year-old has come in for criticism for his lack of goals since

his £72million move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023 and a move back to Serie A could be the reboot his career needs. Inter are setting about a rebuild after being thrashed 5-0 in the

Champions League final by PSG on Saturday and relinquishing their Serie A title to Napoli. Manager Simone Inzaghi has left the club this week and is expected to become the new manager of

Saudi club Al-Hilal. That means there is a vacancy at the San Siro and Como manager, and former Arsenal and Chelsea star, Cesc Fabregas has been touted as a possible successor to Inzaghi.

Fabregas has earned plaudits for the job he has done as manager of Como, guiding the club to promotion to Serie A last season before steering his side to a top half finish in their first

season in the Italian top flight. That has put him on Inter's radar and if past comments are anything to go by, he wouldn't stop any move the Nerazzuri want to make for Hojlund.

Just last year, he sang the praises of the Danish international, comparing him to United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy, and explained how United could get the best out of their forward.

"He attacks the box really well, he's very smart," Fabregas told BBC Sport. "He's a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher when he gets his confidence. I believe he

can be a really top striker for United in the future. "When you have this plus a very good player one-on-one (Garnacho) who is making crosses all the time, you will always get the best

out of him." While it doesn't look like it will work out for Hojlund at United, a fresh start would suit all parties. United would bank a fee for the forward they are losing

confidence in, Inter would sign one of their preferred targets, and Hojlund would play under a manager who has obvious belief in him. There will be plenty of fingers crossed in the United

board room that Inter go in Fabregas' direction.
