KEV SAID HE THINKS SCOUSERS ARE GOING TO LOVE THEIR SESSIONS BECAUSE 'THEY AREN'T AFRAID TO GIVE SOMETHING A TRY' 11:59, 31 May 2025 A couple who decided to start their own
business after struggling to cope with the anxiety of new parenthood said "Scousers are going to love it". Derren and Kev Bimpson welcomed their son Alby in 2021 and both found
themselves experiencing mental health issues in the months following his birth. The 34-year-old dad, who is originally from Huyton, explained that Derren's difficult pregnancy, combined
with the anxieties of new parenthood, left them searching for solutions online. The couple stumbled upon a woman called Elaine who offered 'sound baths' - a meditative experience
that uses sound waves to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Kev told the ECHO: "We were just typing into Google 'alternatives for anxiety' and 'stress relief
alternatives' and sound baths came up. For us it relieved something." The couple, who now live in Shrewsbury with their three year old son, fell in love with the experience and
decided to start their own business offering sound bath sessions to others. Their company, Serenity Waves, will be arriving in Liverpool for the first time this summer offering two sessions
in a Halewood Leisure Centre. Kev said: "When Derren gave birth we both struggled with anxiety but Derren more so, and it was the first time we ever dealt with that. I think everyone
goes through bad times and stressful times. For us, it was the first time it was so intense." Article continues below Derren, 33, has been able to share the experience of sound baths
with other mums, who come to the sessions "looking for an escape". The couple launched their business at the beginning of 2025 with a class in their new home town of Shrewsbury -
and a video of their initial session in February attracted a huge amount of attention on social media. Kev said: "We posted a video on Facebook after our first session and then it went
viral. It just went crazy." He added: "After discovering the benefits of sound healing, we enhanced the experience by introducing water – which intensifies the vibrational impact
of the instruments." People attending the couple's sessions are able to float on top of a swimming pool using a double airbed, with a soft blanket and eye mask provided for
comfort. Kev said the sound vibrations travel more deeply through the body in water, which they believe heightens the therapeutic impact. Now they are looking forward to bringing their
sessions to Liverpool on August 3 and 24, with sessions at Volair leisure centre in Halewood. Speaking to the ECHO, Kev said the couple have encountered sceptics who question the
effectiveness of the sessions - and admitted he and his wife were originally sceptical too. But he thinks Liverpool will be the perfect place for their calming sessions. Kev said: "I
know what Scousers are like and they love anything like this. They aren't afraid to try something. They are happy to give anything a go and not disregard anything." The couple
decided to take a huge career change in order to launch the business, with Derren having worked as a dental nurse and Kev working as a singer for 12 years before becoming a project manager.
But they made the move because they believe in the healing power of their meditative sessions and want to share them with others. Article continues below Kev said: "At a time when so
many people are facing challenges with their mental health, we believe it’s crucially important to explore holistic approaches alongside traditional treatments. Sound therapy can support a
wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia – all through the natural healing power of sound."
