A Santa Clarita man who caused a nine-vehicle pileup after driving 85 mph the wrong way on the 14 Freeway while under the influence of methamphetamine was sentenced this week to seven years
in state prison. The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said Rick Allen Walker, 54, pleaded no contest on Aug. 19 to four counts of D.U.I. causing injury. Walker, a Canyon Country
resident, was arrested in June in connection with the late-afternoon crash. Thirteen people were injured, four of them seriously, according to prosecutors. The incident occurred on June 17
as California Highway Patrol officers were working on an earlier collision near Vasquez Rocks Park. That’s when they saw a vehicle heading the wrong way at about 85 mph. Walker slammed
head-on into another car and sparked a chain-reaction of collisions. ALSO: Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Mammoth Lakes Angels Flight does not have suitable evacuation routes, NTSB says
