Rising UFC star Paddy Pimblett has been warned his career will be over if he faces Ilia Topuria in his next bout. Pimblett defeated Jared Gordon in controversial circumstances on Saturday
night in his first co-main event.
Pimblett defeated Gordon by unanimous decision on Saturday night, though the decision was an unpopular one among fans. Many felt Gordon did enough to earn the decision due to his clean
striking and ground game.
The unanimous decision was labelled "one of the worst" in the history of the UFC by pundit Ariel Helwani. Pimblett, however, felt it was justified and was adamant he was the deserved winner.
Now, attention turns to who the Liverpudlian could face in his next trip to the octagon, with Ilia Topuria being suggested as a potential foe.
However, Pimblett has been warned to stay away from the featherweight, who he found himself in a verbal spat with at last week's press conference. MMA expert Luke Thomas of CBS Sports
declared he feels that a fight between the Georgian-Spaniard and Pimblett would only end one way.
He said: "It's pretty clear that Topuruia would do some very nasty things to Paddy if they fought at this stage. If they put Paddy in front of Topuria at this stage, Topuria might f******
kill him.
"If you wanted to end Paddy's career as soon as possible, put him in front of Topuria. That's a mismatch. It's not even a good fight, it's a mismatch. Topuria would f*** him up."

Despite fans believing Pimblett was gifted the decision on Saturday night, UFC president Dana White explained he feels Gordon came into the fight with the wrong gameplay.
He said: "Jared Gordon had a terrible gameplan against Paddy Pimblett. He shouldn’t have coasted through the third round thinking he was up on the scorecards.”
