Tyson Fury dispatched the German with ease in a one-side affair in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Fury had hoped to put on a show for the crowd but the fight disappointed those who
attended or who stayed up in the UK to watch on BT Sport. It was over in a flash with Schwarz way off the level required to deal with Fury’s firepower. And Fury turned to his other skill to
up the entertainment level after the final bell - by signing. Fury stressed that he enjoyed the workout - the first of three fights on his ESPN deal - and signalled his intention for one
more of a similar level before moving back to the Deontay Wilder rematch. But fans were left short-changed with what they witnessed. He said: “The key was to enjoy myself - I was slipping
and sliding and shifted to southpaw “I came here to put on a show for Las Vegas and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.” But Fury admitted he’d wanted a longer challenge to show the
fans some ‘flashiness’. "I felt good," he told iFL TV after the fight. "I didn’t want to get it over with that quickly, I wanted to show the fans a bit of flashiness, a bit
of slipping and sliding, but you know what? Americans want to see a knockout and that’s what they got tonight. "Let me tell you, I didn’t knock over a small man tonight, I knocked over
a 245lbs six foot five, in shape, undefeated, two in the world prospect. "That’s it, I did my job and got out of there tonight. "Tom’s alright, he got a couple of cuts but he’ll
survive, so that’s.. all praise to be to God for the victory. "I’m going to have another fight in either September or October, Wilder can go and jump in the water or whatever he wants,
I’m not interested." The Manchester-born traveller took control from the first bell as he popped out a jab to keep a rigid Schwarz away. Just two weeks ago, the landscape of the
heavyweight division changed dramatically. Anthony Joshua surrendered his WBA, IBF and WBO titles in the seventh round against unfancied challenger Andy Ruiz Jnr. It only added to Fury’s
claims that he is the top dog in the sport’s glamour division. There were also the expected suggestions that Fury needed to be wary of an upset as Ruiz Jnr proved that in heavyweight boxing
anything can happen. But there was no danger of that here. Fury switched to southpaw in the second round and he was razor sharp as he followed jabs up with fast left hands. He insisted all
week that the result was not a formality against the German who had never mixed it at world level. But it was soon clear that this was a mismatch. Schwarz landed a right halfway through the
second but it was the only punch of note. Fury retaliated with a left hook before he made the German miss with his following four shots and then went on the attack in vicious fashion. The
Brit put his opponent over with a jab from the southpaw stance after a left hook rattled him. Schwarz beat the count but his face was a bloody mess just five minutes into the scrap. Fury
didn’t let him off the hook as he corned him and rattled through with a number of shots. Referee Kenny Bayless tried to give Schwarz a chance to see out the round but the towel came in from
the corner with six seconds left and the American official waved it off.
