Unforgotten season 4 spoilers: writer says series can return

Viewers have followed Cassie Stuart (played by Nicola Walker) and Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) trying to solve the murder of Hayley Reid (Bronagh Waugh) this season. It will all come to a

head in tonight’s finale episode, but does the show have a future after the third season? Writer and executive producer of the ITV crime series has said there is potential for a fourth run,

but it all comes down to one element. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Chris divulged: “We’re talking about it, definitely, it’s all going to come down to, always the first people that

have to make the decision about whether the show comes back, is the audience. “They have to watch it and enjoy it and at that point if they do, and I hope they do. “Then we all have a

discussion about whether we can all get together and make another one because everyone’s obviously very busy and it’s just a question whether we can make it work whether we can pull the

whole team back together again. “It’s quite an ask. So we have discussions about it but I think we’ll wait and see how season three does.” It looks as though viewers have been loving the

third season as they’ve taken to Twitter to comment. “I’m addicted to @ITV #Unforgotten what an amazing series,” one fan wrote. A second added: “I know it's not the final #unforgotten

yet, but there’s got to be another series.” “Definitely recommend watching #Unforgotten - brilliant series. Started first season on Sat and fully up to date. Can’t wait till Sunday for

finale. #WhoKilledHayley,” a third wrote. “Series 4 should be an absolute no brainer considering that series 1-3 are so far above most of the dross that’s usually served up. Best thing on

television #unforgotten,” a fourth declared. Subsequently, it looks as though there’s is plenty of backing for a fourth outing. But viewers might be in for a shock tonight when the series

three murderer is exposed. Chris has confessed that no one so far has been right in their speculations about who it could be. He told Radio Times: “Not one person – and this is the first

time it’s happened, because both the previous series some people have got it before the final episode. Not many, but some. “On this one, no one is anywhere near it at all.” He also admitted

he follows along with fans and their theories on Twitter. Chris said: “I will follow the Twitter feed when it’s going out, because that is just so enjoyable for me, to see a nation engaging
