GETTY Theresa May is famed for her fashion choices - and some rather public faux pas From her statement leopard print heels at conference to her trademark leather gloves, Theresa, 59, has

helped shake off the Tory party’s image with her style icon status. And now, after spots on London Fashion week’s FROW, the Maidenhead MP has risen through the ranks to succeed David Cameron

as the next Prime Minister. But she shows no signs of hanging up her patent red heels now she’s the boss of Great Britain Just yesterday she hit headlines across the nation as she unveiled

her red and yellow leopard print kitten heels. RELATED ARTICLES Embellished with diamantes, her quirky choice of footwear certainly caught the attention of Piers Morgan, who eagerly told of

her fabulous shoes on Good Morning Britain. Showing that she is not to be messed with, he remarked how the steely stateswoman ‘has a playful side’. But it’s not the first time Theresa has

caught the public’s imagination for more than her policies. Here we take a look at some of her biggest fashion moments - from frumpy paisley to thigh-high boots. Getty Theresa May in some of

her iconic styles Fresh-faced, and donning a shorter haircut rather than her usual bob, the then Shadow Secretary State For the Family in 2004 certainly didn’t tick voters’ boxes with her

dowdy paisley coat and black boots. The Shadow Minister, however, did show glimpses of her future rebellious streak, wearing a pair of black leather gloves as she arrived at the Woman's

Own Children Of Courage Award ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Ditching the black boots, she plumped for a pair of wellies while wading the political waters at Conservative Party Conference

in 2007. The yellow speckled boots didn’t win her any fashion awards - but it did mark the start of her break out from the bleak suited and booted MP mould. Getty Theresa May shows off her

racy side in a lace camisole and satin jacket Just two years later in 2009, Theresa addressed delegates at the Conference in Manchester wearing a smart pair of red snake print heels -

proving she'd shed her past style in favour of a fun and fashionable one. In 2011, she opted for a cool black leather dress with red accessories to greet Abdullah Gul, President of the

Republic of Turkey and Mrs Hayrunnisa Gul on day one of their State Visit to the UK.  Fast-forward a year to 2012 which marked a year of daring fashion choices for Theresa.  She turned up

the heat in politics sporting a black satin jacket with racy lace camisole underneath for a night on the town in the capital. Getty Theresa isn't shy to make a statement with her

footwear A few months later at London’s paralympic games she showed her casual side with a pair of converse-style trainers, embellished with a sequin Union Jack sequinned flag. She was a

True Blue later that year after she attended the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, wearing a sky-blue sari. After making her mark for more than her ministerial achievements, Theresa was

soon taking her place on the fashion front row - with an appearance at London’s Fashion week in 2013, wearing pointed pink and black shoes. Later that year, she took inspiration from the

Seventies, in a brightly coloured geometric-style dress, teaming it with over-the-knee black patent boots to welcome the President of Korea in November that year.  Getty Theresa May is a

true blue in sari Since then her style has gone from strength to strength - with her showcasing her wild side in shiny grey suits, lime green jackets and camouflage style shirts. She stepped

out in zebra striped ballet pumps for an appearance at the Children of Courage Awards in London, and even picked a pair of studded flats for Abingdon Police Station last year. Showing off

her fashion credentials, the well-respected Tory showed off her fashion credentials with a red shift dress, with matching patent shoes and bag. She completed the look with leather gloves, a

black fascinator and oversized pearls for the Chinese State Visit in October, last year. While many thought she’d opt for a more conservative style for her leadership bid, she let more than

her pledges do the talking. Theresa stepped out wearing a pair of flat pumps emblazoned with lipstick kisses during one speech. And even for retiring Prime Minister David cameron, she didn’t

let her fashion side down, sporting a pair of leopard-print flats with a huge silver buckle for his last-ever Cabinet meeting.  May the many years of fashion choices continue, now we have a

woman in power at Number 10.
