The short clip, shared to Facebook, shows a baby sitting on the steps of pool. Her mum can be seen sitting behind her but she isn’t holding the baby. The little girl reaches forward for her
shoe, which is being held in the water just in front of her. Unsure, the baby looks around to her mum for reassurance, and the unseen person offscreen splashes the shoe again to catch her
attention. The baby turns around and reaches for the shoe - but it is pulled away from her and she falls forward into the water. She then splashes with her face underwater for a few
heartstopping seconds, before turning her body around so that she is on her back. The baby does not look too pleased, and can be heard struggling for breath. Finally, after 115 agonising
seconds, one of the parents reaches out and lifts the baby out of the water. The clip has caused shock online, garnering 1.8 thousand comments. One woman reacted angrily and said: “A baby
has zero reason to learn anything about the water at that age. “They can barely control their limbs. “It’s the parents duty at that age to watch them like a hawk. “A baby should NEVER be by
or in a body of water without adults, period.” One woman pointed out just how long the baby was left and seethed: “I just don’t know why they had to leave her floating for so long. “Good God
even an adult would be exhausted after floating that long.” Another lady said the clip made her feel very uneasy and shared her story of drowning. She said: “Hard to watch, how can you
watch your baby gasping for air? “My baby didn’t make it, he was 3 when he drowned, never knew it would happen to me.” One lady accused the parents of being cruel to do this to their
daughter. She fumed: “Ok like totally ok to teach a baby to swim but this s**t is cruel look how long they let her float she was obviously panicking because she was trying to cry. “Not right
at all poor baby looked like she couldn’t take it much longer and drown.” But other parents were quick to defend the move. One pointed out: “Child was not in any danger. “There were
obviously adults around the baby was doing well. Great parenting. Showing others how this teaching can save lives.” And another had a very positive reaction, and said: “I love this so so
much! “Have tears of joy and relief for this baby and her family! Incredible! She will be a strong little girl. “I cried the same tears when I watched my three year old be able to crawl
herself out of a pool. “As a parent, there is nothing better knowing you have made it possible for your child to save their own life.” The controversial Facebook post comes as this
ridiculous new video trend hit the internet.
