national interests. It is just that sort of authoritarian organisation which Britain is trying to leave - and while it is undeniable that we are making a dreadful mess of our departure it is

also the case that the people we are dealing with in Brussels, such as Donald Tusk, Jean-Claude Juncker and Michel Barnier, are behaving in a shamefully vindictive manner. That's why

any extension to Article 50 would only prolong our humiliation. We know Mrs May's deal is far from perfect but we urge MPs to back it and bring to a close this debacle.The patience of
