the field for a training session at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Wednesday, they looked as upbeat as ever. The presence of Michael Hussey only made the team look formidable. Hussey was
called on after Doug Bollinger left due to injury. “Hussey is obviously eager to have a shot at the nets. He was keen to get into the nets as early as six in the morning,” said Michael
Clarke. Hussey’s presence means other teams will have to do extra work to find new ways to attack the left-hander, who is capable of winning matches single-handedly. “Having a left-hander in
the squad will surely help. He has played a lot of cricket in the subcontinent and he is going to play a huge part. So far, the guys haven’t had much of an opportunity but this is just the
start of the tournament and experience in the middle-order will surely help as the tournament goes on,” added Clarke. “In the past, he has shown us he can go out and win games on his own in
any form of the game. So, I am confident that having Hussey around is going to help us,” opined the vice-captain. Australia have had a thumping start to their campaign with wins against
Zimbabwe and New Zealand before a rain-marred clash against Sri Lanka. They now face minnows Kenya and Canada in Bangalore after which they take on Pakistan in their final Group A tie. The
team is in no mood to relax just yet, said Clarke. “In this tournament, anything can happen and we are not taking any team lightly. Hopefully, we will continue with our momentum by playing
some good cricket and getting into the quarterfinals. That’s our goal right now. What is important is that we come out and play well against Kenya, Canada and Pakistan in our last group game
and keep playing good cricket,” said Clarke.
