Tesco has announced a change that impacts prices on select items in the evening. Beginning at 7pm, the supermarket is slashing the cost of various baked products in its UK stores as it

strives to tackle food wastage effectively. Customers strolling down the bakery section might notice signs stating: "From 7pm, our loose bakery products are reduced by 50%". This

scheme has been spotted and celebrated by deal hunters on social media, especially on the renowned Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK. On the group, a post informed its 64k

members: "Spotted this in my local Tesco Express - not sure if all stores, but maybe useful to someone," reports Yorkshire Live. Accompanying the message was a photograph showing

an array of croissants and chocolate twists alongside the '7pm' promotional poster, which also reads: "Excludes bread and gingerbread". As families across the country

feel the pinch due to the ongoing cost of living crunch, this half-price deal is bound to be greeted with enthusiasm. Under the Facebook announcement, one commenter expressed: "Good if

you have a Tesco within walking distance!" Another chimed in stating: "Used to be 5pm but they changed it to 7pm to fit in line with reductions on fridge and other bakery

items." In response to inquiries, a Tesco spokesperson confirmed: "Markdowns on fresh products continue to be popular and help to prevent good food from going to waste." They

further explained: "If we can't sell food, we redistribute it to charities and community groups, and offer it to colleagues for free." The spokesperson elucidated that

supermarket store chains are slashing bakery item prices daily to combat food wastage. "Whilst this is generally at around 7pm, timings can vary by store," they commented. Tesco

boasts an assortment of freshly-baked delicacies from its in-store bakeries which hit the shelves on the same day. The retailer's luxurious all butter croissants, available in plain,

chocolate and almond varieties, are usually priced at £1.20 each. However, with a 50% markdown come 7pm, customers can bag themselves a treat for just 60p. In a new initiative to further

reduce surplus food, Tesco is giving away unsold items adorned with yellow stickers without charge after 9.30pm in select Tesco Express shops as part of a trial endeavour. The products,

emblazoned with the yellow labels, can be readily processed through self-service tills. This innovative scheme aims to slash food waste while lending a hand to those in need. To avail of the

complimentary groceries, one must simply pop into a participating Tesco Express after the clock strikes 9.30pm. Goods tagged with the distinctive yellow sticker are ready to be scanned at

the self-service kiosks at no expense. Thereafter, the complimentary fare is yours to take home.
