Limousin cross takes beef title at cirencester market - farmers weekly

Taking the beef championship at Cirencester Market’s Primestock Show and Sale was Alistair and Sally Albutt, Winchcombe with a Limousin cross heifer. Weighing 590kg she sold to Messrs S

Morgan and Sons, Appleton, Oxon for 415p/kg. The reserve overall champion and champion steer went to Mr G Brooke and his Belgian Blue cross weighing 630kg and bought by the same buyer for

200p/kg, netting £1260. The Morgan family also purchased the champion Young Farmers animal which also took the reserve heifer title. This Limousin cross heifer came from Miss M Albutt and

sold for 185p/kg (£1063.75). The native title went to Messrs Breakspear and Son with their Aberdeen Angus cross hefier, weighing 450kg and selling for 120.5p/kg to Messrs P J king and Son.

The lamb championship went to local producers Messrs P and C Houldey, whose Texel cross lambs weighing 40.5kg selling for 402p/kg (£163) to Farmers Fresh, Kenilworth. The Houldey family also

took the reserve title, this time with their 39.5kg Texel cross pair selling for 329p/kg (£130/head) again to Farmers Fresh. Messrs Breakspear and Son also took the champion pig title with

their Large White cross pigs bought by Mr S Clatworthy for £90 a head. The reserve came from Messrs B J Ford and Sons and sold to Mr P Batt for £100 a head.
