rising to 31C thanks to a Spanish Scorcher. The heatwave from the European Union looks set to sizzle the country, with the mercury rising up above 31C in a dramatic shift. It marks the

hottest day of the year so far - and probably the warmest since August. Maps and charts showing the radar shows a red, black and deep amber engulfing the country, measuring as high as 31C.

The BBC Weather has forecast that temperatures will reach 27C by next Wednesday, while other meteorologists predict highs of 31C. The exact date the warm weather kicks off around June 12,

outlook for Thursday to Saturday, spanning June 5 and June 7, said: " Cool, largely cloudy and breezy over the next few days, with showers or longer spells of rain. Prolonged spells of
