Personality of the Year award to his list of accolades back in 2018, increasing his popularity among riders and roadside galleries alike. But the Welshman has recently announced that he will

Monday to explain: "Thought it was time we made it official. Yes, this will be my last year in the peloton. It's not been a bad run eh? "Never in my wildest dreams did I

imagine being a pro for 19 years. There'll be lots of time to reflect but, before then, I've got some big races to prep for." The Tour of Britain is set for September 3 to

September 8 2025, and will see a number of cyclists compete to finish with the quickest time. Throughout this year's race, riders are set to cover 1,204km over eight different stages.

It will kick off at Kelso on September 3, before moving down to Darlington and Redcar the following day. The event will then pass through Sheffield, Barnsley, Derby, Newark-on-Trent,

Northampton and Lowestoft before finishing in Felixstowe. No stranger to the event, Thomas aced the 2011 Points Classification of the event with Team Sky, and has finished as high as sixth

overall. Speaking on his retirement on the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast, the legend added: "This will be my 19th year as a professional - it has to end at some point, and I

didn’t want to do one year too many and be that grumpy guy on the bus who is a negative person. "I’m still enjoying it, and still feeling competitive, but the timing is right. Wanting

to go faster and longer, that hasn’t changed or dwindled as the years go by, but you can’t do it forever - I’m getting a few grey hairs and I don’t want to reach the stage where I’m like, ‘I
