PAUL SAID THE PAIR WOULDN'T TAKE A REWARD AND DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE THEIR NAMES DAN HAYGARTH and NEIL SHAW Assistant Editor (Money and Lifestyle) 09:29, 27 Nov 2023Updated 09:35, 27
Nov 2023 A young couple has been heaped with praise after their honest actions were caught on a doorbell camera. Their good deed was filmed after Paul Lyon heard a knock on his door just
seconds after he walked in. Paul had been to his local shop for some food and took out some money while he was there - but had no idea that by the time he got home the money had gone
missing. It was only when he answered the door that he discovered how lucky he had been. He found a young couple at the door, asking him if a pile of notes belonged to him, reports The Echo.
Paul said: "I'd gone the shop to get some stuff to make breakfast and decided to get some money out. As I got home, within 30 seconds I heard the doorbell so answered it and there
was a young couple standing there. "They asked me if I'd dropped any money and I didn't know at the time but when I checked, I was missing the money. I thanked them and tried
to give them some as a thank you but they wouldn't accept anything. "I checked the video doorbell back to see where I'd dropped the money, and the video before showed the
couple walking down the road just behind me and they followed me behind to tell me I'd dropped the money. They quite easily could have walked off with the money and I would never have
realised. Article continues below CHARLIE AND HER PARTNER JARROD RETURNING MONEY THEY HAD FOUND ON THE FLOOR "I put a post on Facebook and it got a lot of attention. Some family members
have messaged me to say they are so proud and they are only 17. I wasn't expecting it. "I could tell by their personalities that they would've been gutted had that happened
to them, both as honest as each other." Proud mum Helen Pye came forward to say it was her son Jarrod and his partner Charlie behind the good deed. She said: "We’re all so proud of
them both - even before this they are two of the loveliest and hardworking people you could ever meet. "They are both exemplary students in Y13 at Rainford High School. They also do a
lot outside school, Charlie has her own business. Jarrod volunteers at Dungeons of the North role-playing gaming community, where he runs games for teenagers each week." Charlie's
mum Sarah said: "We think she's an amazing girl and we're extremely proud of their actions." Article continues below Paul wrote on Facebook: "These two honest people
came knocking my door this morning after realising I dropped £180 on the floor. They could of easily walked away with it. I offered a cash reward but they refused to take it even though I
insisted, they still refused. I really hope they have a great Christmas." Commenters praised the pair for their actions. One wrote: "I love hearing stories like this of young kids
most kids these days get slated for all kinds of different things but this is proof that we haven’t totally lost a whole generation to today’s society. Still lots of young kind smart
respectful kids around I applaud them well done hope you get a good deed paid back to you one day."
