Dr. Romina Thomas, of the Wilmington VA Medical Center has been awarded an honorary lifetime membership to the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) at the Sussex County Chapter 1105. Jack

McManus, National President and Rodger Rose President of VVA Chapter 1105 presented Dr. Thomas with this recognition during a recent meeting. “I would consider this one of the greatest

honors of my life. I’m so grateful to serve these Veterans and hear their stories,” said Thomas, VISN 4 Primary Care Section Chief. “From the beginning I have been so struck by how their

stories are filled with examples of duty to country, bravery and decency. They can be so instructive to our future generations and it’s important to me to acknowledge what incredible deeds

the Vietnam Vets have done.” Thomas was awarded for her service to Veterans as Primary Care Physician at the Georgetown VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Georgetown, Delaware. Rose was

instrumental in nominating Thomas on behalf of himself and other members of Chapter 1105.   “Others and I of Chapter 1105 are patients of Dr. Thomas’, and she has a great-great bedside

manner. We’ve never heard a bad word about Dr. Thomas, she goes above and beyond. This is a rare honor, and we are very proud to honor her with this membership,” stated Rose.  “Dr. Romina

Thomas is an exemplary physician and is trusted among the Veterans of the Georgetown VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic. Dr. Thomas is often praised for her compassion, thoroughness and

knowledge when caring for Veterans. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition,” Vince Kane, Medical Center Director. With every military generation, Veterans face major problems

and at times don’t know where to turn for help. Vietnam Veterans are known to advocate for their fellow service members and make sure that those who serve their country receive the care and

respect they have earned. Rose said he reaches out to anyone he sees wearing Veteran related material and asks if they have joined the VA yet. “A lot say yes, but more say no or not

involved. I was 70 before I joined the VA, and I’ve recruited over 80 members to the VA out of our 160 members here, just by sharing my story.” Sussex County Delaware has become a hot bed

for retired Veterans and Vietnam Veterans from all over the country, and they all need healthcare of some sort. The Wilmington VA puts Veterans first and the expert health care teams focus

on the needs of Veterans, families, and caregivers by bringing care to where Veterans call home. “Delaware is such a booming area for retires and Vietnam Vets and the need is here, and we
