Many Veterans are not able to drive to their VA appointments due to medical issues or lack of transportation. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Network provides no-cost
rides for Veterans to and from the VA Western New York Health System (VAWNYHS). The lifeline of the DAV Transportation Network are volunteer drivers who keep the program operational. DAV is
seeking volunteers to become drivers to ensure Veterans can make their appointments and never go without the medical treatment they need and earned. “Our DAV volunteers play a key role in
transporting Veterans to and from their VA medical appointments,” said Madelyn Mallein, VAWNYHS DVA Coordinator. “No matter what your volunteer interests may be, there’s a role you’ll enjoy
working with us.” To become a DAV Transportation Network volunteer, drivers must have a valid driver’s license. The VA covers insurance for volunteer drivers and will need to verify that you
are able to be insured as a driver. To apply to become a DAV Transportation volunteer in Buffalo, contact Faith Domowicz, [email protected], 716-862-8671, or Madelyn Mallein,
[email protected], 716-862-6544 or stop by room 321A, Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the VAWNY HS, 3495 Bailey Ave., Buffalo, NY 14215. To volunteer to be a DAV
Transportation volunteer in Batavia, contact Cindy Baker, [email protected], 585-297-1196.
