Keith Bass was appointed Medical Center Director for West Texas VA Health Care System, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 17, headquartered in Big Spring, Texas, on June 4, 2023. As

medical center director, Bass oversees healthcare services for more than 24,000 enrolled Veterans, an operating budget of $153 million, and 1,120 employees. Bass has held key leadership

positions utilizing a unique blend of clinical skill, business acumen, operational agility, and interagency savvy. As Director of the Office of Medical Services at the Central Intelligence

Agency, he was invited to serve as the first non-physician Director of Office of Medical Services at the CIA. In this Senior Intelligence Service role, Bass led multidisciplinary team of

about 300 physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and clinical psychologists providing comprehensive health and wellness services for a 30,000 global workforce and managed a more than $80

million annual budget. In his role as the Director, White House Medical Unit in Washington, DC, he planned, supervised, and oversaw the mission-critical 24/7/365 delivery of complex

emergency and comprehensive medical care to the President, the Vice President, and their families across three Presidential Administrations. He also served as the Chief of the CIA’s Medical

Operations Division. Prior to his appointment, Bass was the Senior Vice President, Business and Clinical Development Executive at GlobalMed in Vienna, Virginia, a provider of advanced

virtual patient care programs and telehealth services, including for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency, and the White House. Bass, a retired

U.S. Navy commander, is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the National Rehabilitation Association, the American Counseling Association, and the National Association

of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, Arkansas; a Bachelor of Arts in Rehabilitation Science from

Arkansas Tech University; a Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas; a Master of Business Administration from Texas Women’s

University, Dallas, Texas; a Master of Health Care Administration from TWU; and a graduate certificate in Legislative Affairs from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
