The Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans chapter, delivered 25 wheelchairs to the Washington DC VA Medical Center on Aug. 23, 2022. The donation was made through the Medical
Center’s Center for Development and Civic Engagement and will be used to help Veteran’s maneuver around the facility before, during and after treatment. The wheelchairs were received by
Associate Chief Nurse, Ebenezer Nkong, MSN/MBA, RN, CNOR, and several members of the Nursing department. “This donation by the DAV Knights of Columbus will enable us to greatly improve
Veteran’s mobility around the facility,” said Nkong. “We really appreciate this donation and what it allows us to do.” The Center for Development and Civic Engagement Chief Theo Marsh, said
the wheelchairs marked the second donation of supplies from the Knight’s of Columbus, and the first from the Disabled American Veterans chapter. Previously, the Frederick, Maryland chapter
donated iPads to Veterans living in the community living center. “Veterans who receive care here are often in need of items. The Knights of Columbus recognize those needs and step up to
provide for them,” said Marsh. “We greatly appreciate their generosity.” Marsh’s office maintains a “wish list” that is updated frequently as different needs arise. Anyone interested in
donating can contact the Center for Development and Civic Engagement at the DC VA Medical Center by calling 202-745-8322.
