CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) celebrated National Family Caregiver Month with an appreciation event on November 6 at the Cohen Clinic in Clarksville.

National Family Caregiver Month recognizes and honors those who selflessly care for the elderly and ill. The event attracted more than 50 caregivers from middle Tennessee and provided

informational sessions such as post-traumatic stress disorder recovery, effective communication skills, and physical recreation like Tai chi. TVHS employees David Crouch, Landra Orr, and

Marcie Wade facilitated the informational sessions. “I am so thankful for the event,” said Jordan Kilhefner, a local caregiver. “I really appreciated the testimonies from other members. I

learned how to cope using the right strategies in my caregiver duties.” Representatives from the Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Stand Down, Clarksville Veteran Transportation Agency,

Yellow Ribbon Fund, Army Wounded Warrior Program, Level Up Nutrition and the TVHS outreach team helped celebrate the event and provided resources for caregivers. “The day was very

informative,” said Mary Scott, a caregiver. “It was good to find out about other resources and programs that are available. The whole program was very well put together. I enjoyed it all and
