Fredericksburg , VA — The Department of Veterans Affairs opened the new Fredericksburg Health Care Center with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony.. This state-of-the-art complex is the

nation’s largest VA health care clinic spanning more than 470,000 square feet. The facility will begin welcoming patients March 3, 2025.[SC1]  The facility will serve more than 35,000

veterans annually and create up to 900 new jobs. It will provide primary care, mental health, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, rehabilitation, and physical therapy services —

along with specialty care such as cardiology, neurology, dermatology, pain management, dental care, a full-service pharmacy, and whole health programs all to support veterans’ well-being. 

“The opening of the Fredericksburg Health Care Center marks a significant milestone for VA to continue delivering world-class health care to our veterans in Spotsylvania County and beyond,”

said ACTING UNDER SECRETARY FOR HEALTH STEVEN L. LIEBERMAN, MD, MBA, FACHE, FACP. “This new facility allows us to expand access to care, improve services, and better meet the needs of our

veteran community.”  Designed for healing and accessibility, the facility includes a 2.5-acre outdoor respite and healing garden with modern patient care spaces and advanced medical

technology. It’s expected the clinic’s central location will reduce travel burdens for veterans and stimulate regional and economic growth.  “This facility is a testament to VA’s dedication

to modernizing health care for veterans,” said EXECUTIVE MEDICAL DIRECTOR FOR VA CENTRAL VIRGINIA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM RON JOHNSON. “Our team worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life,

ensuring that the Fredericksburg Health Care Center is equipped with the latest technology and an innovative design that enhances the patient experience.” The addition of the new

Fredericksburg Health Care Center reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to delivering enhanced health care services to veterans across Spotsylvania County and surrounding areas. As VA

opens these doors, veterans can be reassured they will receive the highest level of care in this expanded, modern facility.
