Today, the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) is holding a Health Care Enrollment and VA Benefits Claims Clinic Open House from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the new Daniel Kahikina Akaka

VA Clinic at 91-1051 Franklin D, Roosevelt Ave, Kapolei, HI 96707. On Monday, April 8, 2024, we will see our first patient for our soft opening, and continue to add additional services

throughout the year. This new, $130 million, 88,675 square-foot multi-specialty outpatient clinic will provide a wide array of services for Veterans throughout the Pacific Islands who come

here for care. We are so excited for our new staff who will work there, and all the new Veterans we will enroll because of this clinic.  The new Daniel Kahikina Akaka VA Clinic will include:

  Primary Care Mental Health Radiology Women’s Health Laboratory  Diagnostic Services Pharmacy Specialty Care VA Benefits Services The clinic was named to honor the late Senator Daniel K.

Akaka, the first Senator of Native Hawaiian ancestry. He was also a Veteran, and during his time in office, he was a strong advocate for Veteran’s issues. President Joe Biden signed the

legislation that named the new VA Clinic after Senator Akaka in June of 2022. If Veterans would like to enroll for VA care or switch to a Primary Care Provider at the Daniel K. Akaka VA

Clinic, they can call 1-800-214-1306. The Leeward Community Outpatient Based Clinic will close April 5th at 5 p.m. and all further health services will be transferred to the Daniel K. Akaka

VA Clinic starting April 8, 2024. For Hunt, the developer of the state-of-the-art facility and the largest military housing owner in the United States, this dedication is a proud moment and

a great achievement. The architect is Troy Miyasato of Ferraro Choi, and he designed the building with sustainability in mind. The tall steel-frame canopy covered with solar panels will

provide shelter and shade along the exterior walkway fronting the building while generating electricity to help power the facility. The building is designed to maximize the use of natural

lighting by incorporating high windows, while the landscaping features drought-tolerant native plants to Kalaeloa. This makes it not only beautiful but environmentally responsible. The

Veterans Administration awarded the lease to locate the Akaka CBOC project in Kapolei in April 2021, and the groundbreaking ceremony was in December 2022. It has been a long time in the

making, and we are excited for all of our Veterans to come and see our new clinic. The most important thing isn’t the building itself, but what the building will do. This clinic represents

the commitment that the United States and the VA has to the Pacific Islands, to care for those who have borne the battle, their survivors, and family members. It is a promise to Veterans now

and in the future that their sacrifices will be honored. We are proud to open the Daniel K. Akaka VA Clinic, and look forward to caring for you at our newest site of care. ONE TEAM, ONE
