Viera, Fla. — At the Viera Veteran’s Affairs Clinic, the shine on the floors and the spotless exam rooms aren’t just about cleanliness—they’re a reflection of dedication, dignity, and

opportunity. Behind this polished environment is a team from Brevard Achievement Center (BAC)—a team that exemplifies capability, pride, and purpose.  BAC’s mission is simple yet powerful:

to provide persons with disabilities with innovative services and opportunities to achieve personal success. That mission comes to life every day at the Viera VA, where a team of

environmental service professionals ensures the facility meets hospital-grade cleanliness standards, creating a safe and welcoming space for Veterans. “This partnership is not about

disability—it’s about capability,” said Amar Patel, President and CEO of BAC. Patel further emphasizes, “These are individuals who were often counted out until given an opportunity. Now they

are showing every day that they’re not just qualified—they’re essential.” BAC’s work at the Viera VA is a cornerstone of the AbilityOne Program, a federal initiative that provides

employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities while supporting critical government operations. For the Viera VA, this partnership delivers on two promises: excellence in service

and purpose through opportunity. Cody Krechting, a day shift housekeeper at the Viera VA for nearly eight years, says the job gave him more than just employment—it gave him purpose. “I

didn’t serve in the military, but I see this as my way of serving those who did,” said Krechting. “I treat every space I clean like my grandfather might walk into it. Veterans deserve the

best, and I want to give them that.” Krechting begins his day bright and early, unlocking the office, preparing supplies, and tending to the primary care area and canteen. Along the way,

he’s developed quiet but meaningful connections with Veterans. “Sometimes, they just want someone to listen. So, that’s what I do.” Krechting reflects. Andrew Justice, who has worked at BAC

for over 20 years and at the Viera VA for 14 of them, plays a vital floating role, ensuring all areas—from window ledges to common spaces—are spotless. “When people walk in and say, ‘Wow,

this place is clean,’ that’s what I work for,” Justice said. Justice highlights, “Veterans travel long distances to come here. They should feel safe and proud of this place the second they

step inside.” Guided by its vision of building communities that support individuals of all abilities in finding meaningful purpose, BAC ensures that its employees thrive while contributing

to the care of Veterans. Dr. Brandan Wormsbacher, Chief Medical Officer at the Viera VA, says “BAC’s team is more than supportive staff—they are an integral part of the clinic’s mission”.

“The cleanliness and safety of our environment directly impact patient outcomes,” stated Wormsbacher.  Wormsbacher highlights that the BAC staff are dedicated to their roles, and this

commitment is evident in the pride they display in their work.  BAC’s vision is to build communities where people of all abilities can find purpose and reach their highest potential. This

vision aligns seamlessly with the VA’s promise to honor and care for those who served. “Federal contracts like these aren’t just about services,” said Patel. “They’re about people—creating

careers, building confidence, and proving that inclusion and excellence go hand-in-hand.” For Krechting and Justice, the greatest reward is hearing gratitude from those they serve.

"When a Veteran wearing a Silver Star hat expresses gratitude for maintaining this place, it means the world to me," Krechting said.  Through BAC’s commitment to service,

inclusion, and excellence, the Viera VA Clinic remains a place where Veterans receive the highest level of care—both in treatment and in the environment around them.
