The VA is proud to recognize Char Psihos as our Volunteer of the Month! This remarkable individual has dedicated her life to serving others, from her time in the Army to her current work as
a hospice volunteer at Dignity Lane. Psihos’ journey began over two decades ago when she joined the Army Reserves. She was deployed as a truck driver to Iraq, where she spent days hauling
jet fuel and nights sleeping on top of her truck. Throughout her time in the Reserves, she discovered the importance of contributing to something greater than herself, a value that has
carried through to her current work in hospice care. In 2023, Psihos began volunteering with the VA’s Dignity Lane hospice care program, providing comfort and support to Veterans and their
families during the most difficult times. For Char, this work is more than just a way to give back—it’s a calling that allows her to connect with patients on a deeply personal level and
provide a beacon of light during their final days. Char’s dedication to hospice care extends beyond her weekly volunteer shift. As a member of Last Watch, she provides 24-hour emotional
support to Veterans, ensuring they are never alone in their final hours. Despite her full-time job and responsibilities as a mother, Char always finds time to make a difference in the lives
of others. The team at Dignity Lane is honored to have such a compassionate and caring volunteer. Char’s kindness, empathy, and dedication to Veterans is truly inspiring. Thank you, Char,
for your unwavering commitment to hospice care and for being a beacon of light for those in need.
