Milwaukee , WI — Media looking for a great Thanksgiving Day story need look no further than McBob’s Pub and Grill, 4919 W. North Ave. For the seventh consecutive year, McBob’s will be
providing a free Thanksgiving meal to veterans 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24. The tradition started with veterans involved in the Milwaukee VA’s HUD-VASH program being hosted by
McBob’s. The event was so successful that it has been expanded to include all veterans. The HUD-VASH program serves veterans struggling with homelessness and problems related to housing
insecurity. Buses for HUD-VASH veterans will depart from the South Entrance of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center, 5000 W. National Ave., at 10:45 a.m., and from the Milwaukee Soldiers Home
(located just north of the medical center) at 11:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Veterans can also go directly to McBob’s. “We’re hoping to serve some 300 veterans,” said McBob’s spokesman Steve
Schmich, noting he has about three dozen turkeys and a half dozen hams. “The outpouring of support from the community has been incredible.” Contacts for the event: * Milwaukee VA Recreation
Therapist Courtney Zeller, 414-587-3014. * McBob’s spokesman Steve Schmich, 770-855-5593. SPECIAL MEDIA INSTRUCTIONS: If you are interested in covering this story, please reach out to Zeller
and/or Schmich. Zeller will be accompanying veterans on the bus ride from the Milwaukee VA to McBob’s. Please feel to contact the Public Affairs office at the Milwaukee VA for further
assistance by calling 414-382-2000, ext. 45363, or email [email protected].
