VA's proud tradition of providing the highest quality of care to our Nation’s Heroes! This page is designed to help you successfully complete all required documents and training prior

to beginning your rotation at VA. The following steps are mandatory requirements for your student rotation with VA Healthcare System. NURSING INSTRUCTOR PROCESSING Nursing faculty must

undergo a credentialing process if this is their first rotation OR they’ve had a separation from the school and now returning. This process may take up to 12 weeks so please plan

accordingly! Please review the instructions CAREFULLY. If you have any question about Faculty Onboarding, please contact VHALON Clinical Staff Development Admin Support NURSING STUDENT

PROCESSING WHO: School Clinical Placement Coordinator     WHEN: 10 - 52 weeks prior to rotation (no more than 2 semesters prior) * All communications will be between the academic

institution’s School Clinical Placement Coordinator and the VALB Clinical Staff Development Department in the Office of Education. * All nursing clinical rotations and individual

preceptorships must have a current affiliation agreement and be pre-approved by the VALB Clinical Staff Development Department before any paperwork is initiated. * Nursing schools wishing to

have a cohort of students for clinical hours must request through the Orange County/Long Beach Consortium.  * For nursing schools that are not part of the OCLB Consortium members, please

request approval by submitting an email to VHALON Clinical Staff Development Admin Support  * For one-on-one preceptorships, the school clinical placement coordinator will contact VHALON

Clinical Staff Development Admin Support  for the Education Department to determine availability of preceptors and begin onboarding once a preceptor is confirmed.
