Mr. Jason Cain was appointed Associate Director for Patient Care Services for G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center on September 8, 2024. Mr. Cain has served as the Deputy Associate

Director for Patient Care Services since May 2023. He joined G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center as the Chief Nurse of Acute Care in February of 2022. He joined us from Anderson Regional

Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, where he was the Director of Nursing for the North Campus and outpatient services. He is an experienced nurse leader and clinical nurse with 28

years of nursing experience. He has served as a staff nurse in medical-surgical, intensive care, cardiovascular recovery, and ambulatory surgical roles. At Anderson, he held positions as a

staff nurse, nurse manager, Director of Surgical Services, and Director of Nursing.  Jason also served as the Interim Director of Perioperative Services at Christus Health in Shreveport

Highland for 6 months.   He is originally from Hickory, Mississippi, in Newton County, where he graduated from Newton County High School in Decatur, Mississippi. He graduated from East

Central Community College in 1998 and received his Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from Louisiana Tech University in 1996. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing

from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2000 and his Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2017. He holds an Executive Nurse Board

Certification through ANCC and has received LEAN Healthcare training. Jason has been married to Anna for 30 years and has 3 children. He enjoys cooking, fishing, woodworking, home projects,

and being outdoors. He grew up farming and working in the family construction business in Chunky, Mississippi.  Jason found his passion for nursing from his mom, who was an emergency room

nurse for more than 20 years before she transitioned to a post-operative surgical unit until she retired with more than 30 years of nursing. In his new role as Associate Director for Patient

Care Services (ADPCS), he will provide organizational oversight for all Nursing and direct supervision in the following areas: Chaplain Services, Sterile Processing Service, Nursing

Education, and Safe Patient Handling. The ADPCS is responsible for ensuring the provision of timely, continuous, high-quality, and safe nursing care delivered to patients. In this role, the

ADPCS is responsible for the overall management of the practice of nursing and the nursing profession across the G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
