Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center pledged $17,145 for the Combined Federal Campaign in 2022, making it the fourth largest CFC contributor in Michigan. First through third place went to
Detroit Arsenal in Warren with $50,042, United States Postal Service Michigan 1 District with $24,325 and Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor with $19,437
respectively. Charities that received the most pledged money from the Iron Mountain VAMC were St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with just over $2,500, Dickinson County Bike Path with
just under $2,500 and Catholic Social Services of the U.P. with nearly $2,000. The rest of the 2022 pledge money went to more than 40 other charities. “Although we did not reach our goal of
$23,500, more than 60 people did contribute, and a lot of great charities will benefit from that,” said Wyatt Gibler, OGJVAMC cook and CFC co-coordinator. “I’m extremely proud of how well
we pulled together to make this year a successful one.” Organizations that raise 51 percent or more of their 2021 totals receive CFC Gold Recognition. According to Gibler, the Iron
Mountain VAMC and ten other organizations throughout Michigan received CFC Gold Recognition. “Wyatt and Bonnie (Pietrantonio) were instrumental in the success of this year’s CFC,” said
OGJVAMC Nutrition and Food Service Chief, and 2022 CFC Coordinator Brady Goldschmidt. “They did an outstanding job. Wyatt jumped in with both feet and really took ownership of the
campaigning. Bonnie handled the administrative support and problem solving. I couldn’t have asked for better support.” The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through
a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. According to the U.S. Office of
Personnel Management, today’s CFC is known to be the most inclusive workplace giving campaign in the world with the number of participating charities estimated at over 20,000 nonprofit
charitable organizations worldwide. The charities supported through the CFC range from nascent community groups to large, well-known charities. Thanks to your efforts and the generosity of
federal, postal, and military personnel and retirees, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) raised more than $80 million for local, national, and international charities in last year’s
campaign, said the Office of Personnel Management in a letter regarding the 2022 CFC. During the extended period of the special solicitation for needs arising from the war in Ukraine,
federal employees and retirees gave an additional $670,000.
