Dr. Andrea Hayes is the Associate Director for Patient Care Services at the Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS). Dr. Andrea Hayes received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

from George Mason University, a Master of Public Health from the American Military University, and her Doctor of Public Health from Capella University. Through her experiences and studies,

she has learned that delivering high quality care to Veterans requires teamwork, collaboration, and a healthy workforce. She firmly believes that when we take care of each other, we reignite

the passion for service to others. Dr. Hayes served as the ADPCS for 2 years at the VA in White City (WCO), Oregon. Prior to her service as the ADPCS she served the WCO VA as the Community

Care/ Referral Coordination Service Chief. Dr. Hayes joined the VA after serving as a Public Health Analyst at Health and Human Services in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health

Information Technology, division of Quality and Safety where she worked on the integration of behavioral and physical health, regulation development, coalition building, and reform.  She

also served as a health expert at Headquarters Marine Corps for 10 years, within the Marine and Family Services division where she provided oversight of field programs. In this capacity she

worked on development of policies and program structures for several areas such as the Embedded Behavioral Health Capability, Quality Assurance, Substance Abuse Program, and the Exceptional

Family Member Program. She brings with her 19 years of federal service experience. Prior to federal service she worked in the community as a critical care nurse, home visiting nurse, and an

Emergency Department nurse. She started her health career in the Air Force Reserve as an Air Evacuation Medic. She was the first female to serve in the military in her family, which has

centuries of military service. She is dedicated and passionate about serving the Veteran community.​​​​​​​​​​​​​
