During Fayetteville National Cemetery’s Memorial Day Celebration, Dr. George Velez, Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO) Medical Center Director, was the keynote speaker sharing

meaningful reflections on the significance of the day. Velez also paid tribute to the fallen heroes. “Fayetteville National Cemetery is filled with liberty’s defenders and is nourished by

heroism.” Said Velez.  “As a Veteran, I am proud of the sacrifice and service of the men and women who wear our uniform.” Staff from VHSO also participated in the special opportunity to

remember and honor the sacrifices made by those who served their country.  Staff volunteered at the cemetery on Saturday by scrubbing headstones and placing American Flags on headstones.

Keisha Isaac, VHSO Administrator Officer, Primary Care and Army Veteran along with her younger brother walked together with the Army wreath representing their branch of service during the

ceremony.  The siblings enlisted together at the age of 17 and 19 more than 15 years ago.   Throughout the morning VHSO staff could be seen visiting loved ones who lay to rest at the

Fayetteville National Cemetery. “To say it’s humbling to participate in a Memorial Day Ceremony doesn’t seem quite sincere enough of a word.” Said Keisha Isaac, VHSO Administrator Officer,

Primary Care and Army Veteran.  “It is difficult to hear TAPS  without displaying outward emotion that most Veterans work hard to keep packed neatly inside. The hour-long ceremony included

music from Singing Men of Arkansas, Canon Volley, Memorial Wreath Recognition and POW/MIA Remembrance as well as a message from a Gold Star Family and special music by Mr. Tommy Randles.

This Memorial Day, VHSO offers a heartfelt and genuine “Thank You” to our fallen Veterans and we will back up our thanks by action and supporting Veterans, caregivers, family members and

Veterans’ causes whenever we can. VHSO humbly pays our respects and reflect on the high cost of freedom which they know too well. To learn more about Veterans Health Care System of the
