Columbia, SC - In a prestigious recognition of his outstanding contributions to podiatric medicine, Columbia VA Health Care System’s (VAHCS) Dr. Brandon Brooks has been admitted as a Fellow

of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Brooks' nomination was based on his significant research in amputation prevention,

foot and ankle surgery, and postoperative pain management. His work has made substantial advancements in early intervention and innovative surgical techniques aimed at reducing the need for

amputations, as well as improving patient outcomes through better pain management strategies.  Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Brooks commented, "Working with the Royal College of

Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow will provide me an avenue to network and collaborate with physicians and surgeons from around the world. This fellowship not only recognizes my past work

but also opens new doors for future research and clinical advancements."  Dr. Brooks' reaction to his admission was one of both excitement and humility. "I was thrilled and

humbled to receive such a prestigious recognition. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of my entire team," he shared. He underscored the importance of global cooperation

colleagues will allow us to bring cutting-edge treatments and methodologies back home," Dr. Brooks noted. "This collaboration is crucial for advancing our field and providing the

best possible care for our Veterans."  The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, with its extensive heritage spanning over six centuries, offers a wealth of resources for

exploring the history of medicine. Dr. Brooks' admission as a Fellow places him among a select group of Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons, further solidifying his role as a leader in

his field.  Oscar Rodriguez, Columbia VAHCS’ acting medical center director, praised Dr. Brooks' achievement, stating, "Dr. Brooks' admission as a Fellow of the Royal College

lives of our Veterans, and we are incredibly proud to have him as part of our team."  Looking ahead, Dr. Brooks plans to focus on advanced wound care, regenerative medicine, and

multidisciplinary limb preservation teams, areas he believes hold great potential for improving patient care, particularly for Veterans. "Our goal is to continue pushing the boundaries

of what is possible in podiatric medicine," he remarked.  Dr. Brooks' fellowship represents not only a personal milestone but also a significant step forward for the Columbia VA
