The Columbia VA Health Care System (VAHCS) hosted a Summer Health Fair, June 14, that included 28 vendors. The event promoted well-being and raised awareness about the diverse range of
services available to Veterans and their families. With a focus on holistic health and inclusivity, the Summer Health Fair offers a multitude of opportunities for attendees to engage with
various programs and initiatives. From the MOVE program and Women's Health Program to LGBTQ+ Veteran Care and the Caregiver Support Program, the fair served as a platform to highlight
the exceptional care provided by the Columbia VAHCS. The fair featured 28 vendors, including both community organizations and Columbia VAHCS departments. The vendors showcased their
services, provided valuable information and resources to attendees. Veterans and their families explored a wide array of health-related offerings, ranging from mental health support to
fitness programs and everything in between. "Columbia VAHCS strives to provide optimal care to our Veterans. This includes empowering them with the knowledge needed on resources and
programs available," said Columbia VAHCS Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program Manager and event organizer, Sandra Walker-Halliman. "Events like this are important not only
to our Veteran population but also our employees because overall health and well-being are at the forefront of healthcare organizations today combatting burnout." Apart from the
informative booths, the fair also featured various engaging activities. Attendees participated in yoga sessions, designed to promote physical and mental well-being, while music added a
vibrant atmosphere and created an enjoyable and relaxed environment for all. Retired Army Veteran Beverley Brooks attended the health fair and expressed how significant events like these are
for Veterans and their families/caretakers. “Events like this are so important because they relay information to Vets about what is available to them and their families. This is a wonderful
resource!” The Summer Health Fair is a testament to the Columbia VAHCS's commitment to the health and well-being of the veterans and their families. By hosting this event, the Columbia
VAHCS continues to foster community engagement and provide a comprehensive platform for individuals to learn, connect, and access vital resources. For more information about what’s going on
