A 63-year-old inmate who fell ill at George Bailey Detention Facility last weekend and died two days later succumbed to liver disease, authorities reported Wednesday. Dennis Lee Curry began
complaining of severe pain to his head and chest in his cell at the Alta Road jail Saturday morning, though he had no visible injuries, according to San Diego County Sheriff’s Department
officials. Curry, who was serving time for outstanding warrants related to prior DUI and drug-related charges, was taken to a hospital, where his condition deteriorated and he was placed on
life support. He was pronounced dead Monday morning, Lt. Michael Blevins said. Homicide detectives were called in to investigate the death, as is standard protocol in cases of in-custody
fatalities. An autopsy determined that Curry’s cause of death was complications from hepatic cirrhosis, Blevins said. _— City News Service_
