Mcgovern on report for push into fence

The West Australian Jeremy McGovern has been reported after a shove that propelled Essendon’s Matt Guelfi into the advertising screen in tonight’s first term. The star Eagles defender was

tracking Guelfi toward the boundary line late in the first quarter, before putting pressure on the Bomber as he disposed of the footy close to the line. Though McGovern’s push appeared to

come right on the boundary line, Guelfi made contact with the fence, requiring treatment from the Bombers medical staff. WATCH THE INCIDENT IN THE PLAYER ABOVE It appeared Guelfi’s ribs made

contact with a plastic chair that a security guard was sitting on, while it was unclear whether his head hit the screen or just part of his body. McGovern was immediately reported for

engaging in rough conduct. Guelfi returned to the action soon after, but only lasted a short time before heading back down to the rooms. The WA product didn’t return in the second half after

going through the league’s concussion protocol. He headed to hospital as a precaution at three-quarter time to assess whether he would be able to fly home with the team. A short time later,

Essendon’s Tom Bellchambers also found himself in the potential spotlight of the Match Review Officer after a bump on Luke Shuey. And then, in the second term, Bomber Mason Redman was
