Kalgoorlie Miner Tonight’s Kal Active fitness program includes the finale of the inaugural Friday Night Lights competition and while the women’s main event is all but wrapped up, the men’s

competition has three members in the running for outright honours. Although pushed each week, Karlena Nixon has been nothing but dominant en route to winning each heat leading into the final

night’s competition. It is not a guarantee of success but based on form, she is the favourite. The men’s competition, in contrast, has seen the weekly spoils split between local firefighter

Ryan Bowe, former Goldfields Titans rugby league captain Shemiah Evans and multi-sport star Casey Grice. It will be these three gunning to hold aloft the trophy at the end of this evening.

As competition coordinator, Bowe has been blown away by the support. “It’s been massive,” Bowe said. “In addition to over 50 competitors, we’ve also had a similar number of spectators coming

along to support friends and family or simply be a part of the atmosphere Kal Active generates.” Kal Active co-founder Milton Brooks said: “We’ve also received support from local businesses

– DC Solutions as the main sponsor of the venue, but Elite Fitness Hire also chipped in with a range of equipment.” Tonight’s program is from 5.45pm, with the main events under way at
