wanting one will have to act fast: only 550 will be made in the first model year and the company says 30 per cent of those have been sold already. Opting for Bright Yellow, Garnet Red

Tintcoat or Hyper Blue metallic paint will add an extra $850. It’s a fair chunk of change, especially given the Ford Mustang tops out at $66,259 for the GT Fastback (though Ford charges

extra for some features found on the Camaro). The Camaro has a 6.2-litre V8 offering 339kW and 617Nm paired solely to an eight-speed automatic transmission, compared to the ‘Stang’s

339kW/556Nm 5.0-litre V8 fitted to either a six-speed manual or 10-speed auto. To help with dynamics, the Camaro has an independent rear suspension with twin-tube shock absorbers, wit

lightweight Brembo front and rear performance brakes with fixed calipers provide the stopping power. Drivers can choose from Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice and Track drive modes. Inside, there are a

number of premium features such as power-adjustable heated and cooled leather-trimmed front sports bucket seats, dual zone climate control, nine-speaker Bose premium audio, customisable

8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging and a universal garage door opener. The Camaro is the third model HSV has converted to right-hand-drive, following the Colorado

SportsCat and Chevrolet Silverado. HSV managing director Tim Jackson said the Camaro project had taken more than three years and millions of dollars to achieve. “We set out with the goal of

retaining the integrity of the left-hand-drive vehicle through the adoption of extensive engineering, development, and manufacturing processes,” he said. “We are proud to say we believe we
