State-owned telecommunications service provider MTNL on Thursday, 20 June, courted controversy after it endorsed a tweet by a troll account which praised Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram
Godse. The twitter account goes by the name Nita Ambani and posted a tweet on Godse: “Hindus nowadays are afraid of supporting Godse whereas Muslims feel proud to name their kids Taimur.”
MTNL’s response to the tweet, “It is difficult to digest the truth,” was met with severe backlash, leading it to delete the same. “This is too much,” a user said on Twitter following MTNL’s
tweet. > Seems @MTNLOfficial has keenly followed and studied the winning > strategy from recent elections! > बढ़à¥à¤à¤¾, ठà¤à¥ > à¤à¤à¤à¥à¤¯à¥à¤®à¤° >
