Inseego will deploy its 5G solutions in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, a 500-acre smart city technology park equipped with real-world connected infrastructure. Inseego’s equipment will run on
T-Mobile US’ Extended Range 5G (600 MHz) and Ultra Capacity 5G network (2.5 GHz), deployed in February 2021. The solutions will support various use cases, including the management of
autonomous vehicles, services and drones, as well as private networks for mission-critical city applications and purpose-built solutions for industry 4.0 applications.
“As one of the first cities to have deployed 5G in the United States in 2019, we’re continuing to uncover bandwidth and latency dependent use cases that are revolutionizing city operations,
such as our intelligent traffic management system,” said Peachtree Corners Assistant City Manager and Chief Technology Officer Brandon Branham. “We selected Inseego because their robust 5G
portfolio offers solid performance and advanced security, attributes that are essential for mission-critical infrastructure.”
Peachtree Corners is already using Inseego’s Wavemaker 5G indoor and outdoor fixed wireless CPEs to enable the city’s intelligent traffic management system. Advanced IoT traffic management
cameras, placed on streetlights, send massive amounts of data to City Hall where a central control center is located. In addition, the city has deployed 5G MiFi M2000 mobile hotspots to
provide reliable and mobile connectivity throughout the area.
According to Inseego Chief Technology Officer Dan Picker Inseego’s technology and 5G portfolio are “perfect fit for many of the new applications the city is enabling.”
“Inseego is proud to partner with the City of Peachtree Corners and Curiosity Lab to strengthen America’s 5G ecosystem and innovate a host of exciting and previously unachievable use cases,”
he added.
In 2019, Peachtree Corners partnered with Sprint to develop an 1.5-mile intelligent vehicle test track using Sprint’s 5G technology combined with Curiosity IoT and micro-positioning.
Peachtree Corners’ brain, so to speak, is its Curiosity Lab, a 5G-enabled autonomous vehicle and smart city living laboratory located within the city. The lab includes a 3-mile test and demo
track, which provides a real-world environment to explore emerging technologies. The city also sports a network operations center, smart poles, DSRC units, dedicated fiber and a 25,000
square foot tech innovation center.
