Violet affleck details argument with ‘astonished’ mom jennifer garner

Even Jennifer Garner fights with her kids. Garner, 53, and Ben Affleck’s eldest daughter, Violet Affleck, 19, wrote an academic research paper in Yale University’s Global Health Review where

she detailed an argument she had with her mom over the destructive Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year. “I spent the January fires in Los Angeles arguing with my mother in a hotel

room,” Violet wrote. Garner, according to Violet, “was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings.” “I was surprised at

said that her younger brother, Samuel, 13, had doubts that there was a connection between the wildfires and climate change.  “What did global warming have to do with the speed of the wind?”

Violet recalled Samuel asking her. “Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother,” she added. The teenager, who is a freshman at Yale and is outspoken

about public health, went on to write that she had an “uncommon” opinion about the fires compared to other wealthy Pacific Palisades residents. “As I chatted with adults in the hotel where

we’d gone to escape the smoke, though, I found my position to be an uncommon one: people spoke of how long rebuilding would take, how much it would cost, and how tragically odd the whole

situation had been,” she wrote. Violet also argued that climate change is an “existential and accelerating” crisis. “Our bewildered response to crises like the LA fires tell us we may still

be accustomed to addressing the climate crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic: as a question of how fast we can get back around to pretending like the problem is gone,” she wrote. Last year,

Violet spoke in front of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and made a plea for mask mandates in LA hospitals. She also revealed that she “contracted a post-viral condition in 2019”

which sparked her passion for public health advocacy. “I’m OK now,” Violet said, “but I saw firsthand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses.”

Garner and Ben, 52, are also parents to Seraphina, 16. The exes were married from 2005 to 2015. During the wildfires crisis, Garner volunteered with the World Central Kitchen and revealed

that a friend who she knew through church died in the blaze. “I feel almost guilty walking through my house,” the “Elektra” actress said.
