main intermediates in the SRR and, using in situ Raman spectroscopy, directly probe the formation and conversion of lithium polysulfide species (pictured) in the reaction. “The conversion of

the 8-atom ring molecule, S8, into Li2S solid is not as complex as once thought,” says Duan. “Although many kinds of high-order lithium polysulfides have been widely speculated, our studies
