Access through your institution Buy or subscribe Many patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can remain in remission after tapering or withdrawal of DMARD therapy, according to findings

from the phase III RETRO trial. Among 282 patients with sustained (≥12 months) remission, 43.3% of those who then discontinued DMARDs at 6 months maintained relapse-free remission at 12

months, compared with 58.6% of those whose dose of DMARDs was halved and 81.2% who continued to receive a full dose. Most patients whose disease relapsed regained remission after restarting

treatment. This is a preview of subscription content, access via your institution ACCESS OPTIONS Access through your institution Access Nature and 54 other Nature Portfolio journals Get
