weather maps from forecasters WXCharts predict a brutal rainstorm hitting the UK from Monday, June 2.

The storm is predicted to approach the UK from the west, passing over Ireland shortly after midday on Monday before hitting the west coast of Scotland in the evening. Areas north and south

of the Hebrides can expect up to 5mm of rain per hour at around 6pm, while those around Loch Lomond in the south of Scotland could see showers of around 3mm per hour.

hours of Tuesday, June 3, a substantial band of heavy rainfall is predicted to strike the length of mainland Britain.

North Wales and North West England will be hit hardest by the initial hours of the storm. Up to approximately 7mm of rainfall per hour can be expected in such regions at 3am on Tuesday.

A similar level of rain is to remain in the regions until 6am, by which time slightly lighter showers of up to 4mm per hour will have hit South Wales.

subside by midday on Tuesday as they move east.

Light to moderate rain can be seen stretching from the West Midlands to East and South East England from about 12pm on June 3, with Leicester and Peterborough seeing showers of up to 3mm per

hour.

‌ The majority of the storm is expected to have passed by the late evening of June 3, while areas in Norfolk and the northeast of mainland Scotland may continue to see light rain from 6pm.

have gathered in North Wales, as well as the Lake District and the west of mainland Scotland, across the 24 hour storm.

‌ The Met Office forecast for next week states: "An unsettled spell of weather is expected through the middle and later part of next week as areas of low pressure move in from the Atlantic

across the UK.

"These will bring showers or longer spells of rain to most areas, these heavy at times, perhaps accompanied by strong winds along some coasts."

While the most severe portions of the storm will have subsided by the afternoon on June 3, the West Midlands and East England can still expect moderate rain(Image: WX CHARTS)Article

the month. In comparison, the south is said to experience drier weather in the coming weeks.

The forecast said: "Over the following weekend and towards the middle of June, dry weather will probably begin to become more dominant in the south, whereas the north is more likely to

remain more unsettled with further episodes of rain or showers and strong winds.

"Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly below normal at first, perhaps rising above average later, with a low chance of hot conditions developing for a time."
