said. The 71-year-old wife of Fred West was convicted of 10 horrific murders back in 1995, and is one of only four women in the UK to be given a whole life order. The couple's horrific

crimes included the rape, torture and killing of innocent young women over two decades. Fred took his own life while awaiting trial, but Rose has been locked up ever since she was handed ten

life sentences at Winchester Crown Court in November 1995. In 1997, then-Home Secretary Jack Straw ruled that she would spend the rest of her life in prison. Now, one insider at HMP New

Hall women's prison near Wakefield, West Yorkshire has revealed previously unheard details about her life inside. West is said to be housed on the disabled wing, and is so frail she can

"barely walk." The serial killer is reported to rarely leave the wing, and is given an escort by prison officers when she does. West has attempted to hand out presents - including

vapes - to try and build friendships, but has been snubbed by other inmates. The source told The Sun: "When I was there, she tried to make friends with the other women and gave them

gifts, like vapes, but she was rejected. Article continues below "She likes to watch nature documentaries on the TV in her cell, especially ones about birds." Fred and Rose West

were initially arrested on February 25, 1994, on suspicion of the murder of their daughter Heather, who hadn't been seen alive since 1987. The day after, her remains were found in the

garden of their home in Gloucester, 25 Cromwell Street. Further searches of the home turned up nine more dismembered corpses of women and girls concealed in the garden, under a patio, and in

a cellar. More bodies were found in other locations, taking the total number of the couple's known victims to 12. The couple's home, dubbed the 'House of Horrors', was

later knocked down. Article continues below Rose denied murdering any of the victims and insisted her husband had committed the acts alone - but witness and expert testimony, including from

a former nanny who escaped the home, in fact showed she was heavily involved in the murders. She has been forced to move prisons several times since being locked up in 1995 due to threats of

violence against her, and most recently had to leave HMP Low Newton in Durham, after reportedly being targeted by Peterborough ditch murderer Joanna Dennehy. It's understood she

legally changed her name last December, and told friends she hoped it would help distance her from her crimes - though reports suggest her identity is no secret among inmates at HMP New
