REUBEN OWEN FURIOUSLY SLAMMED SOCIAL MEDIA CRITICS AFTER HE CAME UNDER FIRE FOLLOWING A VIDEO SHARED ACROSS HIS MUM'S SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS, WHICH ANGERED SOME PEOPLE DANIEL BIRD
Assistant Celebrity and Entertainment Editor 12:33, 20 May 2025 Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben Owen has defended his actions after furious social media critics slammed him. The TV star was
widely criticised for his "disgusting and disturbing" actions, which were seen in a video posted by his mum, Amanda Owen. This month, Amanda, 50, took to social media to share a
clip of her 21-year-old son helping out on their farm, Swaledale, Yorkshire. In the clip, Reuben was seen assisting with lambing season as Amanda's ewes prepared to give birth,
expanding the number of animals on her sprawling estate. "Well this is what you've been getting up to in lambing fields," she said in the clip, which showed Reuben laying
across a lamb and a ewe. The footage later shows Reuben picking the ewe up by its horns. Amanda responds: "You did great there! And you got the lamb at the same time." Amanda
captioned her post from May 5: "Caught ewe. Reuben downs tools and springs into action, *Everyone lends a hand, there is no one exempt from lambing time tasks*." Her upload, which
has been liked over 8,100 times, was soon flooded with messages from social media users who were left concerned by Reuben's actions. One commented: "Whatever he was doing, it
doesn't look right!" A second fumed: "Why are you treating the ewe like that? Absolutely disgusting and I'm disappointed as I thought you were better than that."
Another went on to write: "Remember these people have zero affection for animals, they are mere cash commodities...." "No need for the brutally of how you pulled the
sheep's head," said another before adding: "Yes I do know as my family all work on farms. There are ways to go about it..." However, others were quick to praise Reuben,
with one penning: "Those thinking this sheep is being treated badly, get a grip." A second commented: "Well done Reuben, great job." Another typed: "Kindness is a
gift, if you cannot say anything nice please say nothing at all." Elsewhere, others called for an explanation on what was happening in the video." But Reuben has now spoken out
about the criticism and explained he has no time for social media trolls. "I don't have the time or the inclination to scroll through social media," he said. He went on to
tell The Telegraph: "If you do ever see me on my phone, I'll be searching for machinery sales." Elsewhere, Reuben recently opened up about his new relationship with girlfriend
Jessica, 21, who will be joining her partner on his own TV show, Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales. Jessica comes from a farming background similar to Reuben's, and it seems their common
passion for agriculture has brought them closer together. In the same interview, he explained that Jessica was very "happy and chilled out." He commented: "We met at a Young
Farmers' event, and it was the biggest stroke of luck. She's not bothered by the filming, either, which is great; the telly thing brings a bit of money into the pot, which is
useful." And while Jess is also from a farming background having grown up eight miles away from Ravenseat, it appears they have more in common. "I could work with you all day in
any sort of environment," the smitten Yorkshireman told the Mirror as he sat down for his first joint interview with his equally in love other half. "Last weekend we were felling
trees. In terms of our hobbies, I think digging. Jess is very good on the digger. She's better at driving a digger than I am milking cows." Talented Jess, who describes herself as
a "proper homebird", rides and drives horses for a hobby and by day she works on her family's beef and dairy farm, milking 90 cows and looking after a herd of 15 Belted
Galloway cows and 350 sheep on the fells. "I've loved animals since I was small," she said. Article continues below "I always knew what I wanted to do. At my
school's careers evening I walked in, put my name down for agricultural college and walked out." _LIKE THIS STORY? FOR MORE OF THE LATEST SHOWBIZ NEWS AND GOSSIP, FOLLOW MIRROR
