Gary lineker and brother wayne both pictured at family wedding amid 17 year feud

Gary Lineker was seen looking suave and happy at his son's wedding over the weekend. The presenter, 64, enjoyed his son's milestone moment after a tumultuous couple of weeks after

he was let go from the BBC over comments he made about Palestine. His son George, 33, took to Instagram on Monday to share some special moments from the huge family celebration - which also

included Gary's estranged brother Wayne. George posted a sweet snap of himself and his famous dad beaming alongside one another as they posed after Harry and his new wife said their

'I do's'. The happy family occasion comes after a tough couple of weeks for Gary after he was let go from his duties at the BBC after sharing his opinion on Israel's

occupation in Gaza. The England star turned pundit was due to present coverage for the Beeb until the end of this season before bowing out. However, Gary exited earlier than initially

intended after sharing a pro-Palestine video about the Gaza conflict on social media. The clip in question, which shows Canadian-Palestinian lawyer Diana Buddu criticising Israel's

actions in Gaza, includes a controversial cartoon rat emoji, a symbol associated with antisemitic tropes. Following an outcry, Gary released a statement on Monday (May 19), apologising for

the offence caused and emphasising that he would "never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic". The 64-year-old also revealed he would be stepping back from his high-profile

presenting position after two eventful decades, leaving longtime viewers to wonder what's next for the legendary striker. In his statement, Leicester-born Gary told fans: "I care

deeply about the game, and about the work I've done with the BBC over many years. As I've said, I'd never consciously repost anything anti-Semitic - it goes against everything

I stand for. However, I recognise the error and upset that I caused, and reiterate how sorry I am. Stepping back now feels like the responsible course of action." BBC Director-General

Tim Davie has also issued the following statement: "Gary has acknowledged the mistake he made. Accordingly, we have agreed he will step back from further presenting after this season.

Gary has been a defining voice in football coverage for the BBC for over two decades. "His passion and knowledge have shaped our sports journalism and earned him the respect of sports

fans across the UK and beyond. We want to thank him for the contribution he has made." While he hasn't had much luck in terms of his career over the past couple of weeks, it seems

as though Gary could finally put his long-running feud with his brother Wayne to bed after they both attended the family wedding over the weekend. Gary and Wayne were reportedly engulfed in

a painful feud that made things awkward for their family - and Wayne blamed one woman in particular for their strained relationship. Wayne claimed they drifted apart when Gary started seeing

Danielle Bux in 2008, whom he married the following year but would later divorce in 2016.  "In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother. Sadly Gary is no longer a

part of my life," Wayne told The Sun in April 2015. Wayne claimed he was baffled when their weekly phone conversations and home visits came to an abrupt end. The Ibiza playboy

couldn't understand why their contact had fizzled out within a year, but he put the blame on an awkward first meeting with Danielle. "They came to Ibiza in August 2008 and it was

really awkward. I didn't spark with Danielle and our relationship was cold," said Wayne. He claimed Danielle stayed in her room for the whole of the first day then they didn't

speak at all during a night out the next evening. Not wanting to upset his brother, Wayne didn't question Gary about the frostiness, but the holiday would be the last time he ever

spoke to Danielle. Wayne had been the best man at Gary's first wedding to ex-wife Michelle Cockayne in 1986, but he didn't even attend his second set of nuptials. The club owner

refused to attend because he was told his then-girlfriend, model Ana Tanaka, was not invited just months before the big day. "He was my brother and he was telling me that I

couldn't bring my girlfriend of a year and a half to his wedding. She was a lovely, polite girl, and not a five-minute girlfriend," argued Wayne. Wayne claimed his attempts to

reconcile their brotherly bond failed and an awkward call on Gary's 50th birthday lasted less than a minute. Wayne admitted he had given up, adding: "I would love nothing more than

him to call me up tomorrow and ask to go to lunch to speak about it, but I don't think it's going to happen." Wayne has always been very close with Gary's sons, George,

Harry, Angus and Tobias, who regularly visit him in Ibiza and keep in contact with him despite the rift between the brothers. "All four come here. They always say ‘If Carlsberg made

uncles, then I’m the man’. They get treated amazingly. George comes three times a year," revealed Wayne. Despite their differences, Wayne has always been "immensely proud" of

his brother. When Gary was revealed as the second-highest paid star at the BBC in August 2017, earning £1,750,000-£1,799,999 a year, Wayne said his brother deserved it. Admitting he is

Gary's "biggest fan", Wayne said: "He is very good at presenting now. I remember watching him when he first started, he was absolutely rubbish. "He was so nervous

doing Match of the Day, but within six months he got his confidence sorted. When he started he had to replace Des Lynam, Des was fantastic in his day, he was the man. Trying to follow that

is really difficult, but Gary pulled it off. Within two years he was established and now he is the main man. "There is probably no one better. He works hard and is a very intelligent
