whether it’s the hidden beach at Llandudno or the Instagram-worthy Porth Iago. But there’s one which bears an uncanny resemblance to a bay in South Africa, according to experts at

holidaycottages.co.uk. They looked at some of the world’s most popular beach destinations and found the best UK alternatives. Porthdinllaen in North Wales was found to be a double of Hout

Bay in Cape Town, South Africa. Both have huge curving beaches lined with green rugged cliffs. While Porthdinllaen is a lot smaller and quieter, Hout Bay still offers visitors a tranquil

experience as it’s away from the many hustle and bustle of the city. Both locations are popular for watersports and outdoor activities such as hiking and wildlife watching. Article continues

below The best part? Porthdinllaen is a lot easier to reach from Greater Manchester - around a two and a half hour drive away - compared to two connecting flights adding up to more than 15

hours of travel. As well as looking like a beach in South Africa, Porthdinllaen also has another string to its bow: it’s home to a ‘world class’ beach pub, the Ty Coch Inn. The nearest car

park to the pub is a 20 minute walk away, making it one of the most remote pubs in the UK. But it’s worth the trip to enjoy a refreshing pint with views out to sea. Holidaycottages.co.uk
